Be Clear / Ask Permission / Get Consent “Before” You Offer Healing to Anyone.

The act of offering Usui Reiki or any type of healing to help a being (i.e. surrounding someone with Light to balance or alter the person’s energy, acupressure, flower essence therapy, reflexology, Ayurveda, etc.) can be a generous, loving and helpful act.  However it is important to remember that the practitioner may be interfering where she/he shouldn’t be if the “Law of Free Will” is not observed.

Here is where the heart strings can be pulled.  When we see another being in pain, whether it is emotional, physical, spiritual, etc., a noble, human desire is to offer help and assistance to ease their discomfort.  The trouble comes when the help we offer is done “secretively” without permission or consent such as offering a “Remote Usui Reiki Session” or “Surrounding a Distressed Person with Light” when she/he has no idea of our intentions; or just flat out refuses to be helped.

Unless the practitioner is a ‘designated’ caregiver of an incoherent being such as a coma or accident victim who surrendered their rights to you, or is the parent/guardian of a young child, or animal -healing offered in secrecy is dishonest (whether or not done with good intentions), and the practitioner can even incur the negative karma of the being they are trying to help.  Again, these above examples are exceptions to the rule for getting verbal consent, because it is expected that none of these beings are able to “speak” an answer that you can comprehend, or they may not be wise enough to make their own decisions, i.e. a child generally relies on you to make decisions on her/his behalf to keep them healthy and safe.

To realize why secret healings are generally not acceptable, we first need to understand that each being incarnates with her or his own unique Soul plan.  If we interfere with this plan by offering healing before the individual has grasped the lesson, she/he will need to repeat it.  In similar terms, the ailment or affliction may be temporarily healed by your efforts, but the root cause of the being’s issue remains in place and will continue to attract similar circumstances until truly resolved.  Although we may feel we are helping a person by secretively offering remote Usui Reiki or by sending a being Light to bring balance to their being, our interference is arrogant (even if done with the best intentions) in claiming to know what is best for that individual.  We must instead learn to detach from the situation, and trust that the being is capable of making her/his own decisions, even if they make seemingly “wrong choices” at the time.  For example, are you prepared to take on a person’s anxiety or depression?  This may happen if you heal without permission or conscious consent as the toxic energy needs to go somewhere to resolve itself.  Initially, the toxic energy was created by the being’s circumstances in order to learn balance and awareness for a particular part of their life.  Interfering without permission or conscious consent prolongs their lesson preventing them from discovering balance on their own accord, and puts you at risk of taking on their affliction or illness.

Additionally, altering a situation with Usui Reiki or surrounding a person with Light without permission/consent may be a practitioner’s way of skipping out on personal responsibility, if the lesson is really ours, and not “theirs”.  In this case, you deepen your own karma and prolong your own lesson.  For instance, you may be tempted to project Usui Reiki or Light onto someone because they are disrupting your peace of mind, for whatever reason.  However, it is important to ask yourself if you are contributing to the disruption by engaging in similar behavior, or perhaps you are contributing by passive aggressive means. - In other words, you are very annoyed by this person’s behavior, but avoid setting a boundary because you want to prevent further conflict.  This situation does not call for projecting Usui Reiki or Light to the accused.  Instead, it requires some type of action on your part such as rational and direct communication to try and resolve the issue.  After some contemplation and discussion, you may find that this scenario was necessary for the two of you to strengthen your relationship with one another, and it strengthened your personal integrity because you expressed your feelings.  In some cases the relationship ends, but you may walk away feeling empowered and healed because you courageously faced your issues head on and defined your personal boundaries. The examples and outcomes are endless, but the main point is to rationally interact and take personal responsibility for your life as much as possible.  Avoiding a life lesson only prolongs the situation and invites repeats until the information is integrated and understood.

In conclusion, Energy healing such as Usui Reiki or Light projection does alter a being's energetic essence and does create changes within that being.  We should never force a healing on someone, or offer a healing in secrecy as this violates free will.  Therefore, before offering Usui Reiki, projecting Light, or any other type of healing to another, it is the practitioner’s responsibility to be clear with their intentions, ask permission and gain conscious consent whenever possible.  Free will is everyone’s birthright and should always be honored.
