Do You Practice Religious Tolerance/

It is a comforting feeling to find a religious or spiritual practice that resonates with you.  Finding a set of teachings which assist you in enduring the difficulties of your life, not only helps you to feel less afraid or alone, but also connects you with other, like-minded individuals with whom fellowship can be shared.  The same teaching can also guide us to follow a Light-filled path, which teaches about Love, and can help steer us away from behaviors which are damaging to ourselves and others.  Which ever divine path you choose, it is dear to you and becomes a part of your being.  It is your personal Truth.

Sometimes the divine passion we feel causes us to resort to extreme measures to try and convince others that our path is the only way.  And some will kill in the name of their religion.  If we stop and consider the reason behind the diverse spiritual choices, less fear and more tolerance will enter our lives.

For each diverse individual, there is a belief system to match - and so it should be.  Countless enlightened beings from all different styles of living, worship or belief have offered guidance and inspiration to people who are searching their way through life.  Because people come from various life paths, each with her or his own unique, spiritual plan, so too must there be unique belief systems to suit each person.

One does not need to agree with another’s doctrine of choice, s/he only has to recognize the very important process of individuation.  Individuation allows for each Soul to become differentiated from one another, thus honoring our true reason for coming to earth – to assist the creator in becoming conscious of Itself through multifaceted view points.

However, practicing religious tolerance may be a challenging task.  You may run into people who will insist on lecturing you about certain principals linked to their practiced doctrine, or those who will rebuff you and claim that their point of view is the only way.  You can set boundaries with these people, but avoid argument or fighting.  This only adds to the separation and conflict which weighs so heavily on our planet at this time.  Sometimes just a feeling of inner confidence is enough to withstand the persecution you are facing.

The next time you find yourself listening to another person talk about her or his spiritual belief system, try and reverse the role.  Would you want others to respect your choices?  By remaining calm and respectful when someone else is expressing their Truth, you are setting a healthy and positive example for them to learn from.  If the person becomes abusive, set a boundary, walk away, and forgive them.  Religious tolerance may be the spiritual lesson they are struggling with the most in this life time.
